Coach Jason Sanders
Coach Sanders grew up on Long Island and played in college at UNC-Chapel Hill, graduating in 1996. He has 36+ years of experience and preaches the fundamentals that he developed by playing all positions. Jason believes in teaching proper form and strategy, thus allowing his players to make solid decisions on the field. Even in Learn Lax’s camp and clinic formats, one-on-one teaching is instrumental in demonstrating proper technique. He has always believed that building confidence, along with lacrosse IQ, will create the best results.
Mission Statement
LACROSSE IS THE FASTEST SPORT ON TWO FEET. IT HAS EVOLVED AND GROWN IN POPULARITY A GREAT DEAL SINCE I BEGAN PLAYING IN 1981.
Hello, my name is Jason Sanders. I created Learn Lax Inc. and learnlax.com in order to give back to a sport that has been an instrumental part of my life. I played high school lacrosse at Ward Melville on Long Island, from 1989-92, and college ball at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, from 1992-96.
I have been extremely fortunate to play with many outstanding players throughout my career. By being a student of the game, I have learned many different styles of play, from said players, which has helped me become an all-around fundamentally sound player. I began my playing career as a close defenseman and was moved to midfield while in junior high school. I played midfield all the way through college and now play attack, midfield and close defense at the club level.
In my 36+ years, I have faced-off, played man-down, man-up as well as every other possible position, EXCEPT goalie. However, I train goalies from an offensive perspective and teach them how to move and react according to their surroundings. Throughout my lacrosse career I have been involved in many summer camps. Learn Lax follows the camp format, but it is more of “a camp for the individual”. One-on-one instruction is very vital in learning proper technique in the sport of lacrosse. For me, personally, lacrosse has given me discipline, structure and opportunity while molding me into a better person.
As an assistant and head coach, I have instructed players at many different levels. I have worked with youth league, middle school and high school aged players of all abilities. I can personally tell you that there is nothing more rewarding then when a player does something they have never done before.
Our private sessions are an hour in length, plus a little extra time to adjust the pocket and discuss wall ball drills on the initial lesson. We emphasize concentrated effort on the players’ footwork and stick skills while teaching specific field strategies. Please review the Rates tab for more information. Every player instructed will receive either an offensive or defensive drill list following the first lesson. This information will assist in becoming a more complete lacrosse player. Group sessions of two or more players are also available at a discount per player. We offer this option because Learn Lax strongly believes that team members should learn each other’s tendencies while on the playing field. We are also available for hire to do team clinics and coach tournaments. A team that plays as one, wins as one. In my 16+ years of Learn Lax, I have been apart of many clinics, which have ranged from entire team training sessions to just face-off training. In addition, we now also offer Game Video Review. By watching previously played games, it is easy to see ones’ misplayed opportunities and address how to make them work in the next game.
Please visit the Training tab for more information or contact a Learn Lax representative today! And, please click on the Our Clients tab to see the many players who have been through the Learn Lax experience. Once there you will see some great accomplishments as well as the dedication from these students.
Please email us at info@learnlax.com if you have any questions at all, and always remember, IT’S NEVER TOO LATE TO LEARN LAX.
Thank you,
Jason Sanders
